Why Creativity

The hardest problems – the ones worth solving – don’t yield to spreadsheets and strategy decks alone. More than rational optimization alone, they demand imagination and creative ways to tap into collective wisdom. Most teams rarely get to practice those ways of thinking and being together.  Busyness and urgency fill the day with routine analyzing and execution.  But our creative muscles—the ones that generate unexpected connections, make space for ambiguity, and open our perception to possibility—tend to be under-valued and under-used. Mosaic-making is a powerful way to exercise these muscles. There’s something about fitting small pieces of glass, ceramic, stone, or beads – each with its unique edge and angle to refract the light — that brings collective wisdom into tangible practice. The imperfection of irregular edges becomes glittering perfection as light scatters across the whole.  Even the spaces between pieces play a valuable role—guiding the eye and helping it balance between movement and rest. This group mosaic-making process is a tangible way to see and feel how individual contributions, however irregular, add up to something powerful that no one person could have made alone.
